This is the required course to obtain an LTC. The class covers both the classroom portion (max 6 hours of instruction) as well as the range proficiency.

The classroom section is broken down into four modules:

1. Laws that relate to weapons and to the use of deadly force.

2. Handgun use and safety, including use of restraint holsters and methods to ensure the secure carrying of openly carried handguns.

3. Non-violent dispute resolution.

4. Proper storage practices for handguns with an emphasis on storage practices that eliminate the possibility of accidentally injury to a child.

A score of 70% is required for both the written test and the proficiency demonstration for successful  completion.
